Monday Writing Group will do the best we can over the holidays…  We will meet on November 30, December 14, and December 28.

We will NOT meet on December 7, or December 24.

Mondays, 5:30 – 6:30 pm

at Lobo Beast 101, 2122 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque NM (just west of Yale)
$5

There is free parking in the back, enter through the alley, and metered parking on Central. Check out the menu at http://lobobeast101.com. Entrance from the alley pictured here.

The Lobo Beast menu has lots of good, inexpensive craft beers, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages. Food not too expensive, and they have “small plates” if you just want a snack. And it’s quiet on Monday–except for the sound of our pens scratching across out notebooks as we craft the beginnings of our masterpieces!  Look for us along the west wall.

Come early to order a beer or a snack–we start right at 5:30 pm.
Bring your notebook, your favorite writing utensil, and the desire to WRITE !

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

  • 3 to 4 writing prompts to spark something (you can continue and revise at home)
  • Opportunity to share with other writers
  • Time to WRITE: an hour dedicated to your craft
  • A fun group of folks to share your words with

THE RULES:

Change pronouns of the prompts as you see fit.
Change the point of view of the prompt as you see fit.
Use the prompt to remind you of something else and write about THAT.
Take one word of the prompt and go…
Ignore the prompt all together!
If you’re really stuck, write about being stuck.
If you’ve got nothing, write about nothing.
If all else fails, describe the room you’re in.
The point is to WRITE.

If you get one good sentence that sets you on the road to developing something bigger, then consider it a successful prompt!

If you got a bunch of scribbles with no meaning, consider THAT a success– you’re making room for the good stuff!

The drop-in session is all about playing with words and gathering with like-minded folks. It’s not about crafting a perfect story or poem.

And if you miss this one, there’s always next week! and week after, and the week after and so on and so on…
